Poppies in Olive Oil

The Poppy, native to Palestine, represents the resilience of the Palestinian people and their deep-rooted connection to their land. The olive oil, a substance that has sustained Palestinian families for generations, serves as both nourishment and symbol, its production tied to ancient groves that have witnessed countless seasons of planting, harvesting, and renewal. Together, these elements tell a story of persistence, where the cultivation of both poppies and olives becomes an act of cultural preservation, linking past and present through the simple yet profound relationship between a people and the soil that has shaped their identity.

This piece was inspired by a gift from a friend, but it was shaped by the responsibility to use my skills in service of Palestinian survival and the protection of a cultural heritage.
